Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj is an exceptional saint. We have a conventional belief that saints live in the mountains, on the bank of a river or in a quiet quaint hut in a place of pilgrimage. They either sleep on the floor or on a bed of rags. They have 3-4 essential things lying somewhere. They lead a renunciate life etc. Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj’s personality is far from such imaginations. He is far removed from these conventional myths and is a very jovial Rasik Saint. He plays fun games such as Musical chair, ball and other games with kids and while playing with them, He appears child-like to the children. Many adults also join the games and they too feel like children in association of Shri Maharaj Ji. Whenever somebody enters the premises of his assemblage, He immediately makes a comment, which makes everybody laugh.
Shri Maharaj Ji was once sitting with devotees, when a lady, whose last name was Talwar (sword) came there to have His vision (darshan). He saw her from a distance. He knew that she would come towards Him to bow down to His feet. Since He was surrounded by people and He wanted the devotees to make way for her, He in his unique style loudly said “hato, hato talwar chal paree hei, talwar chal paree hei” (move, move the sword is in action). When the devotees saw Mrs. Talwar walking towards Him, everyone had a hearty laugh. You must have heard such funny incidents being narrated in his lectures as well, which make the listeners laugh, yet He Himself keeps a straight face. When Shri Maharaj Ji was honored with the title of Jagadguru, He was also given a list of rules to abide by. Some of the rules were that He should only accept food prepared by Brahmins; He should not visit any house-holder; He should give lectures sitting on the throne of a Jagadguru and so on.
After receiving the honored title, the very next day, Shri Maharaj Ji visited the house of a devout devotee Mahabani Ji. Mahabani Ji was a house-holder and a Mathur Kayastha from Mathura. Shri Maharaj Ji decided to dine and stay in his house overnight. Since Shri Maharaj Ji came unannounced, no prior arrangements for food or suitable lodging were made for Him in Mahabani Ji’s house. Shri Maharaj Ji asked Mahabani Ji’s wife to prepare Khichri (porridge) and lovingly ate that, even though, there were other elaborate food and lodging arrangements made elsewhere for Shri Maharaj Ji, in much more comfortable places. Shri Maharaj Ji’s biggest joy lies in the happiness of His devotees. Beyond that He needs no other luxury or comfort.
No sooner did He get the instructions for proper decorum, He donated His Silver throne to the Treasury of Ministry of Defense and preferred to sit on a mattress on the floor or another appropriate seat provided by his loving devotees. In those days, He often used to be in an ecstatic state. He did not care about food, bathing or dressing up. He would take a bath, if somebody bathed Him. He would eat, if somebody fed Him with their own hands. But for the welfare of ordinary beings and to spread the knowledge of the Vedas, Shri Maharaj Ji slowly controlled His ecstatic state, and returned to normalcy.
Shri Maharaj Ji is so friendly and loving that His devotees always pamper Him a lot, forgetting about His true form as their spiritual master or Jagadguru. His devotees, many of whom live in the western countries, bring fine clothing for Him. On one hand He dresses up in those clothes, His room is well decorated, His bedding is comfortable, He eats in silver utensils, He travels in expensive cars or by air, He stays in beautiful ashrams amidst lavish arrangements and on the other hand even the most expensive thing from this world does not impress Him. He accepts and enjoys the most ordinary gift brought by a poor devotee with great eagerness and love. The Divine Love shimmering in His eyes and equal indifference towards expensive and cheap things is a clear indication of deep detachment that lies within Him. He loves everyone equally. And this is the peculiarity of his love that whoever meets Him, thinks ‘He loves me the most, He paid maximum attention to me alone.’ Yet, He is equally detached from everyone.
One can hold the true vision of his extraordinary divine personality when he is conducting a Keertan. His personality glows in the state of ecstasy. When He dances in unrestrained enthusiasm on the Hari Bol Kirtan, the whole environment exudes Divine-Love-bliss. The effulgence and extra ordinary divine state of His being cannot be described in words. It is a matter of experience only.
He does not need a particular seat, arrangement or crowd to deliver His precious discourses. Generally the most precious lectures on the practical aspects of devotion are recorded secretly, when He delivers them while sitting on His bed, in the courtyard or garden or sitting on a sofa to relax. He is always surrounded by a crowd of devotees.
His personality is completely different, when He gives public discourses / speeches for the benefit of the masses as Jagadguru, even those who are in his daily service and have the great privilege of talking & laughing freely with Him, quiver on seeing Him deliver those speeches. Only that time we realize ‘Oh! He is such a divine personality! He has so much knowledge!!’ But when he returns to the general courtyard after His lecture, all the devotees run behind Him being very proud of His unparalleled knowledge and they lovingly joke with Him saying ‘Maharaj Ji Jagadguru Ji speaks very well. But we are comfortable with our Maharaj Ji only.’
Right after the speech, devotees present beautiful dances wearing beautiful costumes and jewellery. Some times Shri Maharaj Ji himself recites some ‘Shero-shayari’ or ‘Ghazal’ (Urdu Poetry). Seeing Him in that mood, no one can imagine, He is the same one, who was rendering the great scholars speechless just 10 min. ago.
Unlike other Gurus, Shri Maharaj ji never asks anyone to quit non-vegetarian food or alcohol. But His philosophy and association has such a tremendous impact on the devotees that they naturally desist from these things.
Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj has never advised His followers to renounce their family life. He says live in a family and practice devotion. But His teachings and methods of accepting service are so scientific that despite living in a family, He makes them renunciate from within. Their desires for material objects and happiness from material objects are greatly minimized. After coming in His close association, He becomes the focal point of interest and love for the whole family.
Shri Maharaj Ji likes traditional Classical music. However, keeping in mind modern dance and music, Shri Maharaj Ji gives an opportunity to the younger devotees to present their talents. A cultural program session is held every night. During these sessions, devotees perform Quawwali, ghazals, songs, jokes, dances, poetry etc. The heartening fact is that all of these are performed with Shri Radha-Krishna or Shri Maharaj Ji as the focal point. Sometimes when a very good singer sings with great confidence and pride, Shri Maharaj Ji quietly signals the whole crowd to start booing the singer, so the singer’s voice is no longer audible. On the other hand, Shri Maharaj Ji asks the singer to sing more loudly as if He is not involved in this booing. It creates a fun filled joyous atmosphere. With His entertaining gestures and acute sense of humor, He eliminates the fatigue of the entire day in less than an hour.
Shri Maharaj Ji celebrates Eid, Christmas, Father’s Day, and Mother’s Day also. He tries his best to steer everyone’s mind, regardless of age, caste, color or creed, towards the lotus feet of Shri Radha-Krishna. When He mingles with the devotees, the devotees tend to forget that He is a Jagadguru or our Guru. In fact they even forget that He is so much senior to us in age. Even during His lectures, through some leela or some other anecdote, He makes everybody laugh. Wherever He goes, there is constant chanting of Gods’ pastimes and virtues. He is always on the go and constantly keeps organizing programs. No one can ever get bored in his association. All His activities have such nectar, that all who wake up with great difficulty at 7:00 am in their own homes, get ready as early as 2:30 AM!!, for fear of missing some programs, as Shri Maharaj Ji’s day starts at 2:30 AM. In Shri Maharaj Ji’s association, one loses the perspective of when the day begins and when night falls.

During his descension in the human form in Treta Yug, Bhagwan Shree Ram performed several leelas. In one such leela Bhagwan Shree Ram is acting grief stricken since his virtuous wife Sita is missing. In despair, He is asking everyone including the animals of the forest, birds, plants, trees and creepers etc. if they have seen His beloved Sita anywhere. Bhagwan Shankar and His divine consort Parvati come to visit Him. Bhagwan Shankar bows down to pay His obeisance to Bhagwan Ram and addresses Him as “Sachidanand”, which means Supreme God. However, looking at Shri Ram's desperate condition, Parvati Ji is very surprised and confused. She does not understand why being Omniscient He is still crying in separation of His wife Sita Ji, just like an ignorant being. She thinks that it proves that Ram is not omniscient. But then She also wonders, why did Her Omniscient husband Bhagwan Shankar, adore Him like God?
To eliminate this doubt, Parvati Ji decided to test Shri Ram’s divinity as God. She assumed the form of Sita Ji and sat down in a beautiful grove in the same jungle, where Shri Ram was bewailing. When ‘Leela Purushottam’ Shri Ram saw Parvati Ji, He assumed His Omniscient self and asked Her in a mode of satire, O Mother! How come You are sitting here alone! Where is father Shankar Ji? Her pretense was caught and She was really embarrassed at Her ignorance. When she came back and met Bhagwan Shankar, He asked Her if She had tested Shri Ram? She bluntly refused and lied to Him, saying, “I went to pay My salutations to Him, just as You did.”
Observation:
This whole divine episode confuses us and begs answers to few questions:
If it is true that Shri Ram is Supreme God, then why was He bewailing with great grief on losing His wife? This is an act of ignorance and material attachment.
Parvati Ji is the divine consort of Bhagwan Shankar. How then, could She not recognize Shri Ram? How did She dare test Lord Ram? Furthermore, how can She ignore the authenticity of Her husband Shankar Ji? And, how can a divine lady lie to Her husband, when She knows fully well that Her husband is God and thus He is also omniscient.
These questions about the actions of Shri Ram and Parvati Ji commonly arise in the minds of people and prevent them from developing complete faith in God. These questions about the actions of Shri Ram and Parvati Ji commonly arise in the minds of people and prevent them from developing complete faith in God.
Conclusion:
There is no doubt that Lord Shri Ram is Omniscient, as it was proven beyond doubt when he revealed his true self to Parvati Ji when she went to test Him. Second, Bhagwan Shankar honored Him saying “All glories to Schidanand Bhagwan." The epithet "Sachidanand" cannot be used for anyone except Supreme God. Also, how can Bhagwan Shankar who is Himself known as “Jagdish” (the lord of the universe), bow down to anyone else other than the Supreme God? Parwati Ji is also an Omniscient divine personality, who had blessed Devi Sita Ji at the time of ‘Sitasvayambar’. Same Parwati asked Bhagwan Shankar.

How can a prince be the Supreme God? Over and above that, how can he be so deluded in separation of His wife that He is asking the trees, creepers and mountains about His wife? Seeing His acts of utter ignorance and divine glories simultaneously, I am extremely confused. Lord Shankar answers,
I know for a fact that You have no doubts, illusion or delusion at all. Even then you are asking this question like an ignorant being, just to teach others that using your material mind in the divine pastimes of Almighty God is a sure sign of sheer downfall. Just as a stage play is a demonstration of the acting talent of the people on stage, but it cannot be used to assess the real character of the actors, similarly, God's incomprehensible acts and pastimes are meant to be enjoyed, not to be criticized or evaluated or judged.
MORAL
Just like Goddess Parvati, we often try to question the actions of God. We try to understand “why did He perform certain actions”. We forget that He is “all knowing” and all His actions are divine. Just like a kindergarten student, cannot judge the proficiency of a professor, our material intellect cannot comprehend the actions of the divine God and saints. Saints and God descend on earth to teach human beings that are at different stages of spiritual consciousness. Sometimes God and saints act for benefit of the devotees who are progressing towards the path of God realization and sometimes Their actions are to shower nectar on the God realized souls. However, we should NOT mimic them. We should only follow those actions of God and Saints that are at our level of spirituality.
In a nut shell, we should follow the instructions of our spiritual master. Using our limited material intellect to judge the actions of God and Saints is a spiritual transgression and is an unforgivable sin.
Siyawar Ram Chandra Ki Jai!!!

Lord Sri Krishna descended as the son of mother Devaki and father Vasudev in a prison in Mathura. He descended in a jail for Kansa, cruel brother of Devaki, had imprisoned both of them. On a dark stormy night, Shri Krishna appeared in the jail in his divine form which He has four arms and holds conch, disc, mace and lotus flower in those hands. Devaki and Vasudev offered their obeisance to God and then requested Him to become a baby. Also, they wished to forget that He was God.
Then Shri Krishna inspired His father, Vasudev, to carry Him to Nand Baba and Yashoda Maiya's house in Gokul.
Krishna spent his childhood days in the home of his foster parents in the village of Gokul. Nand Baba was the chieftain of the village and was a cowherd by profession. He had 900,000 cows. As was customary in those days, at a very young age little boys were initiated in the profession of their fathers. On the day of Gopashtami after his fifth birthday, Krishna was initiated as a cowherd.
As a cowherd boy, His duty was to take the cattle for grazing to green pastures in the wilderness and steer them back home at dusk. Even though He was initiated in this profession, being a little boy of 5, He was not old enough to steer the cattle. Once in a while, He would perform His designated duty and rest of the time He used to go to the forest to enjoy playing with His older friends. His friends used to take care of their own cattle and Shri Krishna's cattle. This continued for a couple of years. Today, after the same ceremony was performed for the third time after his 7th Birthday, he went to the forest with His friends to graze the cows. However for some reason today, He was in a mood to pick up a fight with his friends.
When His turn came, to steer the cattle, He started making excuses to instigate His friends to pick up a fight with Him. One of His friends charged back saying.. "O Kanhaiya! don't you dare frown at me! With the arrangement that we have, your turn comes, only once in a while. If you don't like this arrangement separate out Your cattle from ours and steer Your cattle all day long. All this time, You have been having your way. Now we refuse to be manipulated by you. Why are you acting so smart?
So far, we protected you, thinking you to be the little brother of our friend Balram. But now you are crossing all limits. Sometimes you go and take a nap, at other times you escape to play the flute. We are not your servants employed by your Dad to keep serving you all day long. Also, we are not scared of you complaining to your father. What if Your father has a few extra cows than my father? We do not rely on your father to feed us, nor does he provide us shelter!!"
Shri Krishna wanted to have a little fun but this little prank turned ugly very quickly. With such accusations from His friends, Krishna realized that His friends were really upset with Him, and that made Him very nervous. Out of fear and nervousness, His throat was choked and tears started rolling down his eyes.
The poet, Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj says that it is generally seen in the world that adopted children are over pampered and spoilt by their parents.
Rapture: Love knows no majesty. His friends love Shri Krishna so much that Shri Krishna is always desperate to hear their love sopped scolding.
This beautiful story is written in a poetic style in a book “Prem Ras Madira”. This book is divided into several sections. This particular one is from Bal Leela Madhuri i.e. Shri Krishna’s childhood pastimes.

Murali Ware Shyam Sundar Ki Jai… All Glories to The Dark Skinned Handsome One, Who holds the flute!!!
The flute of Shri Krishna is so magical that the sound of His flute forcibly captures the attention of all deserving souls such as the Gopis of Braj. Although it is extremely dear to those fortunate souls, who can hear the sound of the flute, yet the language of true love is very peculiar. The Gopis want to thank Shri Krishna for His magical flute, but, they pretend to criticize the flute for its unique quality of bringing them closer to Him. A Gopi who is drenched in the love of Shyam Sundar chides Him saying O Shyamsundar! Your Murali (flute) has created turmoil. Hearing the sound of the Murali, humans and celestial Gods have lost their consciousness. The music of the Murali has even disrupted the Nirvikalp (Transcendental) Samadhi of Bhagwan Shankar.
O Shyamsundar! as per the Varnashram dharm expounded in the Vedas, you have established the rules, regulations and decorum for moral conduct of human beings. This Murali has transcended all those boundaries. Even though the Murali has 8 holes, is hollow from inside (has no mind), remains undressed and traces its origin to a family of a mere bamboo plant that lives in the jungles, still this arrogant one, shows off in front of others.
The poet, Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj says, the Murali should not be blamed for this. This is Shyamsundar’s fault. He has graced Her with the divine touch of his sweet lips (muh-lagi hai). This has made her so flamboyant.
