Gyanendriya
Gyanendriya is a Sanskrit word created by joining gyan (knowledge) and indriya (organ). These are also called sense organs and are considered superior than the Karmendriyan.

- cakṣu (चक्षु): eyes to see. Eyes can perceive light since the tej element of Panch Mahabhoot is prominent in their construction.
- karṇa (कर्ण): Ears to hear. Ears can perceive sound since the akaash (space) element of Panch Mahabhoot is prominent in their construction.
- nāsikā (नासिका): nose to smell. Nose can perceive smell since the pritvi (earth) element of Panch Mahabhoot is prominent in their construction.
- rasanā (रसना): tongue to taste. Toungue can perceive taste since the jal (water) element of Panch Mahabhoot is prominent in their construction.
- tvacā (त्वचा): skin to touch. Eyes can perceive light since the tej element of Panch Mahabhoot is prominent in their construction.
