Ganesh Charuthi
We should pay respect to the celestial Gods and Goddesses, as they are the governors of some special powers conferred on them by Shri Krishna. In addition, Shri Krishna dwells in everyone’s hearts.
However, one must not ask them for any power, wealth or other material gratifications. Material achievements are called Bhukti and beyond Bhukti is liberation - Mukti. One must not ask them for either of those. We should only ask them for the selfless love of Shri Krishna.
If we understand this philosophy, we will not hesitate to bow down even in front of anyone including an animal, because we will perceive God in every one. Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, an incarnation of Shri Radha Rani, used to bow down in front of his own devotees, begging for Shri Krishna’s love with tears in his eyes.
