Dhanteras |
Dhanteras is also known as Yamadeep. This featival is celebrated 2 days before Deepavali.
Once demons and celestial beings churned the divine ocean of milk to extract ambrosia (amrit). This churning is called Sundra Manthan.
The churning ended when Dhanvantri vaidya (doctor of devatas) emerged from the sea with an Amrit Kalash (pot of ambrosia). That is why, this day is also known as Dhanvantri Jayanti.
This amrit was hugely coveted by both demons and devatas. You all might already know how Shri Krishna took the form of a beautiful lady called Mohini. Mohini fed the righteous devatas this amrit and fed the demons an alcoholic beverage. This amrit makes the devatas youthful with no physical afflictions, ailments and excretions.
This amrit is still available in swarg. The word amrit means no-death. Yet, those devatas die after their punya (pious deeds) has exhausted.
Traditionally, people buy gold on this day and worship Goddess Lakshmi. They wish to please Goddess Lakshmi so they can be prosperous.
On this day in 2005 Jagadguruttam Swami Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj gave to the world the one and only Bhakti Mandir. This is the temple of bhakti. Bhakti is that amrit which grants endless life, endless knowledge and endless bliss [1][2][3][4]. This temple is situated in Shri Kripalu Dham Mangarh, the birth place of our beloved Gurudev.
Thousands of aspirants of divine love flock to Kripalu Dham every year to practice bhakti to be graced with amrit bhakti. You too can avail this God sent opportunity by learning to drink from this eternal fountain of bhakti.
